Africable group introduces bundle of 60 free TV channels on African market

(Ecofin Agency) - Here is a free TV bundle to catch: Basic African channels, France 24 and much more. It is the the TNT SAT Africa offer, targeting the African market, that the Africable group and its partners are releasing.

Sold at FCfa 40,000 the equipment (antenna and decoder) allows the viewer to watch between 54 to 60 TV channels for free. It took 12 months to build the TNT SAT Africa teleport, located on the Koulouba hill in Mali. The investment was of FCfa 3 billion. "We have developed a receiver which catches signals from the satellite and the land emitter to make the access to television a reality. Digital being a sector in itself, we have trained some young people for that. Since 17 January, we have satellite coverage from the south of Mauritania to Madagascar. The Africable group and its partners have set up this infrastructure and we believe this will be a big plus in the digital television sector", the CEO of Africable group, Ismaïla Sidibé, said on 30 September 2015 during a visit of the teleport's installation.

"This is the first private teleport in francophone Africa. Today, as a private company, it is possible to be a private satellite operator to bundle all African channels. The best private channels and France 24 have joined us to create a bundle of 54 to 60 channels that we will broadcast for free", he continued.

Ismaïla Sidibé also insisted on the added value of the equipment: "We benefitted from the latest technologies in terms of digitalisation. With the TNT SAT Africa decoder, you can watch a channel and record another one. You also have the ability to get a personal internet access, in short all that can be done by satellite."

Based in Mali, Africable gathers 2 television channels, a billboard ad agency, the Perroquet communication agency, the cable provider Multicanal Numérique as well the company Datcom Afrique, specialised in telecoms and IT engineering.
