On Sept. 12, 2025, S&P Global Ratings lowered its long-term foreign and local currency sovereign credit ratings on Botswana to 'BBB' from 'BBB+'.

The country’s commercial banks recorded collective after-tax profits of P2.3 billion in the first nine months of the year, putting them on track to break the all-time full year record of P2.7 billion set last year.

Declining fuel and food prices helped push inflation down to 4.6% in June, from 5.7% in May, the lowest level since March 2021.
