An investigative committee of the Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE) has given RDC Properties the green light to proceed with its long-suspended bid for a stake in property sector rival PrimeTime.

With over 80% of the Botswana Stock Exchange’s free-floating stock in the hands of local pension funds, traders, and listed companies have pointed to this as the reason for liquidity crunches that have troubled the bourse for many years.

The Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE)’s main platform, the Domestic Companies Index, enjoyed another strong year, rising by more than 12.2% and adding P6 billion in value despite tightening conditions in the economy.

The country’s listed commercial banks are amongst the biggest gainers on the Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE) thus far this year, led by Standard Chartered Bank Botswana, whose share price had risen by 32.3% as at the end of November.
