    The Africa Financial Services Investment Conference, now in its second year, brings together listed, and other investable, African focused financial services companies with both debt and equity institutional investors, and other interested parties.The objective is to strengthen investment into Africa’s Financial Services sector.

    The companies will be drawn from stock exchanges in all parts of Africa, including North Africa, and also other companies listed on stock exchanges outside Africa which have a primary business focus in Africa. In addition companies that are not currently listed, but which are seeking a listing, or looking for debt or equity investment will be making presentations.

    The inaugural AFSIC event was very successful. Financial services companies from 17 African countries attended. The 2014 event is expected to be a “must attend” event in the Africa financial services calendar.

    Many of the most prominent Africa focused Listed and Private Equity funds are lined up to present in 2014, including: Actis (one of the largest Private Equity firms focused on emerging markets, spun out of the UK development arm), Advance Emerging Capital Limited (a fund focused on global emerging and frontier market equities), Amethis (a French private equity firm focused on African financial services companies), Carlyle (one of the world’s largest alternative investment firms, with a dedicated Africa fund), CDC (the UK’s development financial institution), Citadel (the leading investment company in Africa with $9.5bn in investments under control), DEG (Germany’s development financial institution with a primary focus on Africa), DPI (one of the largest African private equity firms), ECP (a private equity firm that has raised over $2bn for investment across Africa, including the Francophone regions), FMO (the Dutch development financial institution), Frontier Markets Fund Managers (responsible for the Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund and Guarantco whose vision is to become a centre of excellence for local currency guarantees in low income countries), Helios (a major Africa focused fund), LeapFrog Investments (the largest private equity investor globally in insurance and related financial services to emerging consumers), One Thousand and One Voices (1K1V),  TLG Capital (a growth-capital financier of indigenous companies in frontier markets) Wafa Gestion (Morocco’s leading asset management company) and the World Bank/MIGA. Listed funds including the Investec Africa Fund (believed to be Africa’s largest equity fund), Blakeney Management, T Rowe Price and many others have confirmed their attendance.

    The conference will attract a substantial number of significant institutional investors, including asset management firms, pension funds, hedge funds, brokers and other investment specialists.

    Financial services companies including Banks, Insurance Companies, Leasing Companies, Micro Credit organisations, Investment Banks, Brokerages, Asset Managers, Deposit Taking Institutions from across Africa are welcome to attend.
