On Aug. 2, 2016, S&P Global Ratings lowered its long- and short-term foreign currency sovereign credit ratings on the Republic of Congo to 'SD/D' from 'B-/B'. At the same time, we affirmed the local currency 'B-/B' ratings, on which the outlook remains stable.

Moody's Investors Service has today downgraded the Republic of the Congo's (ROC) issuer rating to B1 from Ba3 and placed the B1 rating under review for further downgrade.
Fitch Ratings has downgraded the Republic of Congo's Long-term foreign and local currency Issuer Default Ratings (IDR) to 'B' from 'B+'. The Outlooks are Negative. The issue ratings on the country' senior unsecured foreign currency bonds have also been downgraded to 'B' from 'B+'. The Country Ceiling has been affirmed at 'BBB-' and the Short-term foreign currency IDR at 'B'.
