On April 17, 2015, Standard & Poor's Ratings Services affirmed its 'B+/B' long- and short-term foreign and local currency sovereign credit ratings on the Republic of Kenya. The outlook is stable.
OVERVIEW
- Since our last review, the Kenyan economy has continued to perform well and growth prospects over the next few years remain strong.
- That said, external vulnerabilities have increased; they remain manageable, however, and could be cushioned by the IMF stand-by agreement if needed, in our view.
- We are therefore affirming our 'B+/B' foreign and local currency sovereign credit ratings on Kenya.
- The outlook remains stable, reflecting our opinion of improving economic prospects, moderated by our concerns about external risks and Kenya's fairly significant fiscal deficits.
