Egypt’s government signed a contract with two prominent construction companies to resume the fourth phase of the Cairo metro’s third line, state news agency MENA reported on Wednesday, citing transportation minister Galal El-Saeid.

The contract, roughly worth EGP 6 billion, will be executed by the Arab Contractors Company and Orascom Construction in cooperation with French companies over 34 months as of 30 June, MENA said without adding further details on the financing.

Once fully completed in 2020, the third line will run from Cairo airport to Cairo University, passing through downtown and the densely populated working-class district of Imbaba.
