Botswana's central bank kept its benchmark Bank Rate at 5.0 percent, citing a positive outlook for inflation that is forecast to remain within its 3-6 percent target range in the medium term, and an economy that is operating close to, but below capacity.

The Bank of Botswana (BB) lowered its Bank Rate by 50 basis points to 5.0 percent, saying the "current state of the economy, both the domestic and external economic outlook as well as the inflation forecast, provides scope for easing monetary policy to support economic activity without undermining maintenance of inflation."

Botswana's central bank kept its Bank Rate unchanged at 5.50 percent, saying its "supportive monetary policy stance remains consistent with maintaining inflation within the 3 - 6 percent objective range" based on the current state of the economy and the domestic and foreign outlook.
