According to officials of the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE), at least 86 Tanzanian companies have applied for listing on the DSE and at least 25 of them are expected to list before the end of this year.
The Citizen reports that among those that will be listed include the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA)which will be listed in May.
DSE acting chief executive officer Ibrahim Mshindo was quoted by the Citizen saying the interest to list came after the Exchange stepped up its awareness campaigns among the public on investment opportunities on DSE.
“It is very disappointing that out of the more than 1 million companies in Tanzania only 18 (and 200 Tanzanians) are involved in involved in bonds. This is because most of them do not have enough awareness on the importance of investing.” he said.
