Egypt has postponed the launch of its financial derivatives market until the second quarter (Q2) of 2025, Vice Chairman of the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) Islam Azzam told Asharq Business.

The delay comes as preparations for the market, in coordination with the Egyptian Exchange (EGX), are still underway.

In late 2023, Chairman of the EGX Ahmed El Sheikh announced that the derivatives market was expected to be launched in 2024.
