To start the week, the local bourse on Monday closed south following price shed recorded by blue chip firms.
Consequently, the All-Share Index depreciated by 0.23 per cent to close at 41,082.38 index points as against 41.176.14 recorded the previous trading session as market capitalization of equities fell to N21.490trillion.
A total volume of 738.5 million units of shares, valued at N4.17billion exchanged hands in 7,396 deals. JAPAULGOLD (-6.58%) finished the most traded shares by volume and value at 92.3million units, and N145.7million.
Market breadth was however positive with 35 gainers and 22 losers. CADBURY (+10.00%) led the gainer’s chart today, while ARDOVA (-5.49%) was the top loser.
Performance across sectors was mixed, as Consumer Goods (-0.62%) and Industrial (-0.43%) indices closed in the red, while the Insurance, Energy and Banking indexes improved by +5.98, 0.02% and 0.01% respectively.
Sector Performances
NSE Consumer Goods Index: Down by 0.62%, due to price decline in FLOURMILL (-6.58%), GUINNESS (-2.63%), INTBREW (-2.21%) and NASCON (-1.70%).
NSE Industrial Index: Fell by 0.43% as DANGCEM closed south by (-1.01%).
NSE Insurance Index: Up 5.98%, on price appreciation in AIICO (+10.00%), MBENEFIT (+9.52%), WAPIC (+9.09%) and MANSARD +5.62%.
NSE Oil & Gas Index: Advanced by 0.02% due to the gain in OANDO (+0.29%).
NSE Banking Index: Inched up by 0.01% on the back of the positive sentiment in GUARANTY (+1.82%) and ETI (+0.77%).
