Uchumi Supermarkets today started trading on Uganda Securities Exchange (USE) after Uganda’s Capital Market Authority and the USE has approved the cross-listing of dual-listed Kenyan retail chain on the Ugandan bourse.
“We will be listing 265,426,614 ordinary Uchumi shares of par value Ksh5.00 each shares at the Uganda Securities Exchange on November 13th, 2013,” Uchumi CEO, Dr. Jonathan Ciano said in a statement.
Currently listed on the Nairobi and Rwanda stock exchanges, Uchumi becomes the first supermarket chain to mark list on Uganda's bourse, and plans to cross list in Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange in the coming months.
Uchumi's listing will take the number of listed companies on the USE to 16.
