    Market Commentary

    The sentiment was positive on African equity markets this week. Among the 17 markets we cover, twelve advanced while four retreated, and one remained flat. The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange led the performance charts as Tanzanian equities jumped 6.56%. Conversely, Mauritian equities dropped 2.13%, the most on the continent. Due to the Eid al-Adha celebrations, several markets were closed for one day or more this week.

    The bullish sentiment prevailed on African equity markets this week. Among the 17 markets we cover, 11 advanced while 6 retreated. The Ghanaian Stock Exchange was back at the top of the performance chart as equities in Accra rallied 7.50%. Conversely, the Egyptian market was the laggard for the second week in a row as equities in Cairo dropped another 1.83%.

    The overall sentiment was mixed on African equity markets this week. Among the 17 markets we cover, 8 advanced while 8 retreated, and 1 remained flat. The BRVM led the pack as equities in Abidjan gained 2.85%. Conversely, the Ghanaian market was the laggard for the second consecutive week after weeks of strong performance. Equities in Accra dropped another 6.17%.

    The bullish sentiment prevailed on African equity markets this week. Among the 17 markets we cover, only the main stock market in Nigeria retreated. Ghana leads the performance chart once again as equities in Accra soared 5.24%.
